This is one of the bigger “hidden” factors couples don’t realize. Your venue requirements can dramatically affect your catering pricing.


For example, if your venue does not allow open flames or sternos, caterers may need to bring in completely different equipment to keep food hot.

That could mean:

  • Additional warming cabinets

  • Extra electrical equipment

  • Different serving setups

  • More transportation logistics

  • Additional labor

All of those operational changes affect pricing.

Another major factor couples overlook is preferred vendor policies.

Wedding Food on Warming Plates

Some venues have a “preferred caterer” list.

If you choose a caterer outside of that list, the venue may charge an additional off-site catering fee.
